Arrow fashion and style guide

You wouldn’t expect a show based on a comic book super hero to serve as fashion inspiration. But with costume designer Maya Mani (of Pretty Little Liars and Secret Circle pilots) at its helm, and Katie Cassidy and Willa Holland as her muses, the CW’s new supernatural drama Arrow, provides realistic and interesting fashion and style for fanboys and fashionistas alike.

Mani’s philosophy is to keep it simple. Arrow fashion doesn’t distract from the actors, so clean lines and silhouettes are key to the clothes from Arrow.  Because so much of the show revolves around action, the iconic Arrow costume has to be comfortable and practical. There’s only one Arrow costume – designed by Colleen Atwood – used for all of Arrow (Oliver Queen’s) stunts.

When it comes to the women of Arrow’s style, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance is sophisticated and simple. Mani uses attainable brands realistic to Laurel’s life. Drawing from brands like Marc Jacobs, Club Monaco and JCrew, Laurel’s style is minimalistic, professional and timeless. To acheive Laurel’s Arrow Fashion, look for classic, clean silhouettes in simple patterns and soft colors.

Oliver’s sister, Theia Queen is played by Willa Holland (of Gossip Girl and the OC.) Theia’s Arrow style is trendy and attainable. Like a high school student, Theia’s Arrow outfits come from Urban Outfitters, Guess and Forever21. She favors skinny, colored jeans, fitted blazers and body baring bandage dresses. To recreate Theia’s Arrow fashion, look for bolder, solid colors, skinny jeans in seasonal hues and simple accessories.
