How to wear fringe at any age

fringecollage

I am loving the return of fringe. And, for the most part, the way you feel about this trend depends on how old you are.

If you’re in your 20’s, then this is probably your first time experiencing a full-blown fringesplosion. Fringe boots are great. A skirt is better. A jacket is fab. Earrings are on fleek. (I *think* that’s how you guys say it?) And all of it at one time? Settle down, kiddo, you have a lot to learn. When it comes to fringe, less is more. You’ll see fringe (and these pictures) again in 20 years. You can thank me for it then.

Fringe in your 20’s

If you’re over, say 35, then this isn’t your first fringe rodeo. In fact, fringe is probably synonymous with the two coolest girls of all time: Sloan Peterson and Cindy Mancini. You’re probably less apt to jump into the whole fringe thing this time around, but a fringe accessory, or cardigan is still totally age appropriate. And, yes, I know, I love that fringe jacket, too. (Just do it.)

Fringe in your 40’s

If this is your third time experiencing fringe then, well, thanks for reading. I know, you saw fringe when it was synonymous with free love and you’re laughing at all of us. Still, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, and check out some fine fringe details that don’t seem overly trendy.

After all, you’ve learned from history.

It’s our job to repeat your mistakes.

What do you think? Will you wear fringe?
