Carrie Diaries style

Striped shoulder sweater

See it at Urban Outfitters

I wrote about this for Happy Endings fashion, too

The Carrie Diaries hasn’t even aired, and already it’s a thing. With features in InStyle, Teen Vogue and Marie Claire, the fashion of Carrie Diaries is presumably the next big thing.

And with Sex and the City as it’s predecessor, and Eric Daman of Gossip Girl style at its helm, it’s no big surprise.

Still despite all the buzz, The Carrie Diaries has some big Manolo Blahnik’s to fill.

Unlike Blair and Serena Van Der Woodsen, Carrie Bradshaw doesn’t come from money. She lives in the 80′s which isn’t exactly the decade any of us looks back on an thinks, “oh gee, I wish I still had those shoulder pads and stirrup pants.”

The good news is that it seems the characters from Carrie Diaries will be wearing 80′s inspired pieces from stores like Forever21, Urban Outfitters and Marc Jacobs. According to star Anna Sophia Robb, the style is Aspirational Authenticity, Attainable Fashion which means unlike Gossip Girl, there’s actually Carrie Diaries fashion we can all afford.

The bad news is, I’m not sure any of us is going to want to.

What do you think? Will you be tuning in to Carrie Diaries tonight and would you dress like the characters from Carrie Diaries? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. No and no. CW’s only good at one type of show: Actors so gorgeous you overlook how bad the scripts are. The Carrie Diaries doesn’t even have any above-average-looking actors.

  2. Loved the first episode last night – got the same feel as SATC but it’s own place. The fashion was great – same fun mixes like SATC – would I wear it? I did the first time around!
