One of the hottest Fall 2012 trends is printed pants which always makes me laugh because the biggest argument I ever had with my mom over an outfit was a pair of paisley pants she bought for me in the fifth grade.

I remember the first time I ever saw these black and white paisley jeans. They were atrocious, even by 1986′s standards. My mom insisted they were adorable. I paired them with an oversized Liz Claibourne red v neck sweatshirt cardigan and Reebok high tops.

Can you believe how I remember these details? I can’t even remember my own birthday. (March 26. Send presents)

You know how they say “Father Knows Best?” Sometimes mom is pretty smart to.

I grew to love those paisley pants. In fact, I kind of wish I still had them today. My mom was a real fashion predictor. Those jeans could grace our TV screens on any number of our favorite fashion starlets. (I could totally see Rachel Bilson wearing them on Hart of Dixie or Cobie Smulders rocking them on How I Met Your Mother.)

Since those paisley jeans are long gone – and let’s be honest, I’m not fitting into anything I wore when I was 10 – I found a similar pair of paisley pants from Topshop that remind me of my favorite paisley pants from long ago.

And speaking for fall favorites, one of my favorite shows for mother/daughter drama is Big Rich Texas which returns to Style on Sunday, October 7, at 8/7c (Are you tuning in?)

I’m not sure if we’ll see any of those Big Rich Texans wearing printed denim (or paisley jeans) but I guarantee there will be more mother/daughter drama than my paisley jeans ever caused.
