Parenthood Fashion: The Talk

As parents, we’re faced with challenging topics by our children. Knowing that it’s important to be honest, but also appropriate is one of the hardest parts of being a parent. And sometimes the way you answer a question is just as important as the answer itself.

Which is why I’d like to hire the writers of Parenthood to come to my house and write me a script for all the difficult questions I’m going to have to answer as a parent.

Where do babies come from?

Why do people die?

And why is Ed Hardy still a thing?

No seriously? I want someone to explain that to me too.

What I lack in thoughtful and frank Parenthood style conversations, I more than compensate in bringing you this week’s Parenthood fashion.

And while I’ve never walked in Jasmine’s shoes, I’d certainly be more than happy to spend some time in any one of her Parenthood outfits.

Which has never included anything resembling Ed Hardy.

I’m sure the writers of Parenthood had something to do with that.

  1. Is it just me or is the Parenthood fashion so flowy-hippy and it all sort of looks the same? I would almost go as far as to say that the (older) female characters all sort of dress the same and their clothes don’t help define their characters. Kristina’s especially is always drab colors and a lot of her tops scream maternity to me (or she’s hiding a fat belly day). I don’t really find it flattering.

    • I think you’re right, elyssa, but I also think it’s realistic. don’t we all have a go-to style, and aren’t we all influenced by what our friends/family members wear? I know I show up wearing the same sweater my best friend has all the time. I kind of like the way the fashion reflects real life relationships. That’s my interpretation, anyway.

      • Oh, I totally think it’s a realistic interpretation…I guess that’s just why it’s so boring to me! I’m sure people would get really tired to watch me in jeans, a tee and a black Northface on TV every week too!

  2. Since I gave in and ordered the dress, any idea where the belt is from?
