Connie Britton as Rayna’s sequin moto jacket
Nashville. It’s all about big hair, big voices and big sequins.
And for the pilot of ABC’s Nashville, Hayden Panetierre and Connie Britton had all three on display.
With more sparkles than an Ice Capades show, and more hair than the floor of my beauty salon, Nashville perfectly captures the glamour and grit of the country music industry.
I was prepared to dismiss Nashville. After all, I saw Country Strong. But with its great music and greater cast (seriously, I’m obsessed with Connie Britton) I was sucked in like the jeweled corset Hayden Panetierre wears on an upcoming episode of Nashville.
And while you wouldn’t think that a show based on the country music industry might be a mecca for TV fashion inspiration (I’m looking at you Miranda Lambert) it turns a lot of the Nashville fashion worn by Rayna Jaymes and Juliette Barnes can be found as easily in Nashville boutiques like Haven (where Nashville’s costume designer did a lot of shopping) as they can in the rest of the country.
And you don’t have to know how to carry a tune.
Just as long as you’re carrying Visa.
Which is accepted on both sides of the Mason Dixon line.
