Emily Maynard’s multi strand beaded necklace

Ok, I know we are all supposed to be weaning off Emily’s fashion, but I just can’t do that because 1)it is fabulous and 2) my name is actually Emily too, so I kinda get a pass there! PLEASE id this necklace seen recently on her SC vacation: – Emily

I don’t think having the same name as the thing with which you are addicted really gives you a pass.

Otherwise everyone named Mary Jane would be stoned all the time with no repurcussions.

You know?

Can you please ID her grey dress she is wearing in this picture?

    Thanks!!!

I would also love to know where the maxi dress is from! :)

How does it make logical sense for a necklace to be $248 even if it has some semi-precious & jade stones? Thats crazy. In Korea if you goto the market, they sell strands of semi-precious stones and its all authentic and priced under $50.

  4. Anonymous says:

Good luck finding a round trip ticket to Korea for less than $200 genius

I love that she can take simple pieces and pair them with necklaces to make the cutest outfits. I would love to see where she got the rest of this outfit.

  6. Anonymous says:

A shop selling junk jewelry at $248a pop is cognizant that the buyer will likely be someone to have not earned the $248 herself;never has, never will. Anon has a point. On a vacation/Jyr. abroad – Asia, SA, Africa, anywhere but Europe sells the same stuff, better quality, for a lot less. The experience is a lot more fulfilling, too.

  7. Anonymous says:

To the loser who was so smug in their “genius” comment. You can buy it online. DUH! Who's the genius now?

  8. Anonymous says:

The original poster said “go to the market” in Korea, not shop online.

  9. “A shop selling junk jewelry at $248a pop is cognizant that the buyer will likely be someone to have not earned the $248 herself;”

This doesn't even make sense. I'm a single woman in my 20s who makes a solid income, has savings and occasionally splurges on accessories. So, yes, I HAVE earned the money myself. That's an ignorant and misinformed statement.

  10. Stella Dot the designer of this necklace is actually a company that empowers women to run their own business and earn income. Saying they're a company who doesn't think its buyers earn their own money is just incorrect

  11. Anonymous says:

Whether you get it “in the market in Korea” or buy it online its much cheaper then spending $248 or however much it is. The point is its definitely overpriced. Most public figures who wear stella & dot are sponsored by them, hence they wear their jewelry all the time.

  12. Whose business is it what people spend. Buy it. Don't buy it. But mind your own business and don't worry about other people's finances. Who are you to say what something is worth? These are some pretty bold statements from a person (or people) who aren't even confident enough to include their own names. Hiding behind your anonymous names makes me think your just trolls stirring up controversy because you hate emily or you are jealous because you can't afford this stuff. Why are you even reading a fashion blog? If you don't want to spend this kind of money go read a budget blog, or better GET A JOB.

  13. Anonymous says:

I will be purchasing this necklace. I am 24, have a great job, and will also be buying it with my own money. I would also like to buy (with my own money) the dress Emily is wearing in this picture, if I can figure out where it is from??

  14. Anonymous says:

haha you crack me up. My opinion was that it was over priced for a beaded necklace. Heck, its even more expensive then Tiffany's and that's saying a LOT. If it wasn't for Emily, you wouldn't even want to purchase this necklace. I think you need to get your priorities straight rather then spending so much on an over priced piece of jewelry that you probably wouldn't have even discovered. It's all conspiracy. Easily influence people like yourself, wasting their hard earned cash just to get someone in their grasp to somewhat feel like they can be as beautiful as Emily can. Get a life!

  15. Anonymous says:

That's a valid point, Anon 1:01, a point that stings deep. There are obviously many females here who've lost sight of themselves and thus jumped the Emily train. Problem is, there's only room on the train for one Emily. One can rationalize until they're blue in the face that overpriced junk 'fashion' she wears has qualities for Emily osmosis when it doesn't. Waste all your income from that “great job” you deem to have; cuz in the end, you're still you and once again, you've been cheated.

  16. Anonymous says:

Its all a fad. This necklace might be pretty right now but give it a year or two and you'll realize it was all Emily hype. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions sure, but think about the long run. Do you really want to look back and hold a piece of beaded jewelry with a few semi precious stones on it and know you practically spent 3 bills on something you probably wont wear again? Anon is right. You will never be her. Get your own style and learn to be happy with yourself! If you're confident you should be able to rock any necklace in your closet and make your own original ensemble.

  17. Anonymous says:

isn't it possible that someone might just like this necklace? Costume jewelry is a trend right now – ippolita. alexis bittar. it's all trendy and expensive. maybe i'll look back and regret it, but i feel the same way about any trend like neons or legwarmers. if i like it who cares who wore it first. and also i know for a fact that i am prettier than amily maynard. i don't want to be her.

  18. Anonymous says:

Actually i think beaded jewlry is timeless. I can see putting this necklace away and then coming back to it in 10 years and liking it again. Now Emily's lace shorts are another story…

  19. Anonymous says:

no one can care this much about a necklace.

  20. Anonymous says:

LOL! Seriously. No need to be cocky about yourself.

  21. Anonymous says:

im not being cocky. anonymous kept saying “you're not going to be emily.” and I was just making the point that its not my goal. i am prettier than emily. i don't have fake teeth or fake booth. i don't think saying your pretty is cocky. whats wrong with having confidence. no one can win. your etiher uglier than emily and pathetic, or prettier than her and cocky.

  22. Anonymous says:

    Whats fake booth?

  23. Anonymous says:

We get it. You're prettier than Emily~~ You're prettier than Emily~~ Do you want a cookie?

  24. Anonymous says:

To all of you who are saying that anyone who wants something emily wears just wants to be her, do you think that about everything dana posts? if you ever want something you saw on a TV show does that mean you want to be that celebrity? Maybe they are just like the necklace?

  25. Anonymous says:

“You will never be her. Get your own style and learn to be happy with yourself! “

Not everybody who wants to know where to get Emily's dress or necklace is automatically uglier than Emily. Not everyone is trying to be her. Maybe they just like the necklace.

  26. Anonymous says:

“Easily influence people like yourself, wasting their hard earned cash just to get someone in their grasp to somewhat feel like they can be as beautiful as Emily can. Get a life!”

All I was trying to say is that this necklace isn't going to make me somewhat feel like I can be as beautiful as Emily. I already am as beautiful as Emily without the necklace.

Because I'm so sure you paid for that vacation/junior year abroad with your own hard earned money, hypocrite.

My thinking has changed a lot when it comes to spending this kind of money on jewelry (or any accessory). Let me start by saying that I am a Stella & Dot Stylist (full dislaimer). I love jewelry and believe that it can change the entire look of an outfit. I used to be one of those people that thought it was crazy to spend that amount on any accessory. After spending a LOT of money on $20 pieces of jewelry here and there and it breaking or tarnishing within weeks, I did the math and decided it was time to just invest in the good stuff and eventually decided to sell it because I loved it so much and thought it was well worth it. It has saved me money in the end. It's the same as investing in a good handbag or pair of shoes. You don't have to spend a fortune on every piece you buy, but investing in some expensive pieces and mixing it with some inexpensive pieces is the key. If you love something and can afford it and want to invest in it, then go for it. I've never regretted it!

    Dana,

You are amazing, how do you put up with all of these comment arguments?! I stumbled upon this dress on ebay and was thinking this may be the one in the picture. What do you think?

  30. Oh never mind, just realized her's is floor length so it's not this one. Still cute though!

I can't see past the cheapness of plated brass, glass 'pearls' and dyed jade. As a professional and a parent, unless an item is made of genuine fibers, sterling silver, gold that isn't plated…I'd buy a mid range accessory, but not $250 for a necklace. That's ridiculous. Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom shoppers can find similar quality for less. I do applaud the S&D stylist for trumping what she sells (and gets for well less than 1/2), I just won't overpay for a gimmick and don't get why people translate what Emily wears as endorsement for what they wear.

  32. Anonymous says:

Then don't buy it. If you think it's expensive, then it's not for you… What do you get out of harping on someone and judging their character and whether they can afford something because Emily wore it??? This blows my mind. You know NONE of us. Dana's just IDing tv/celeb fashion. A lot of people take the lead and purchase the items…does not mean you have to. Also doesn't mean we care to hear your opinion on those who do.

  33. Anonymous says:

Also, Dana, are you working on IDing her dress, I would LOVE to give these Anons another reason to hate on me!!! :]]

  34. Anonymous says:

Completely agree with you. And I'm sorry to say that I've seen the quality of Stella and dot and I am not impressed with it. It's not any different then what you can find at your local mall but the prices are out of the sky for what you get. I'm an accessories designer and also studied this in school.

  35. Anonymous says:

One reason the US domiciles in an economic dumpster is Americans are complacent buying at low quality and high price, often that which they can't afford. Drive down a US street and you'll see testament to people purchasing what they can't afford for a boatload of reasons, none of which hold water. If you want to emulate Emily's every breath of air, do so. But please stick to items of quality for a good price and leave the China made junk for another unsuspecting nation.

  36. Anonymous says:

    You preach sistah!

  37. Anonymous says:

I'd still love the dress. Dana can you recommend something similar? :) PS – and I can more than afford it!

  38. oh my god. this comment chain is absolutely ridiculous. do people really have nothing better to do than judge others on their necklace preferences/purchases. it's fine to not like something, not want to spend money on it, feel it's overpriced, etc., but mind your own business and perhaps draw the line at making assumptions about someone's character because of a random item they choose to buy/wear.

  39. ^I think you need to calm your penties.
