Few things intimidate me more than group excercise scenarios.
Forget about appearing on camera, or meeting with a major brand. No, my biggest fear is being alone in an aerobic studio surrounded by Lululemon clad glamazons dissecting my every (clumsy) move.
Last week I was invited by Flywheel, a super glam new spinning facility here in Chicago (as well as Florida, New York, Atlanta and North Carolina) to try out my first ever spin class and I was more intimidated by the shoes than the Marketing director (Jake from Bethenny. Eek.)
Shockingly, I was able to keep up! The music was great, the instructor entertaining, and the room?
That’s right. No one could see how awkward or clumsy I was. Or how I totally almost bit it during the intense climb. I felt invigorated and proud of myself. Most of all, I didn’t feel embarrassed that all around me Lance Armstrong-like athletes had kicked my ass in the final race. (I didn’t pass out, and that was an accomplishment in itself.)
The next day (okay week) I was sore, stiff, and possibly engaged to the bike seat, but most of all I was excited to try it again.
