Possessionista 31 Days of Giveaways

After a month of parties, and food, and shopping I know how you're feeling right now:

Hungover.

You're probably thinking to yourself, "I'll never eat/drink/shop again." But I assure you, in good time, you'll do all three.

To help you with the latter, I'm enacting the third annual Possessionista 31 Days of Giveaways. Every day in January I'll be hosting a giveaway from my favorite products and brands. None of these companies paid to participate, but have generously donated the gift to one of you.

It's my way of saying thank you for supporting Possessionista over the past year.

And the surefire cure for that shopping hangover you're nursing right now.

AnnaLynne McCord's fringe boots on 90210

Anna Lynne McCord's 90210 Fringe Boots
Lamo Fringe Sheepskin Boots, $189

Uggs are sort of like 90210.

I love to hate them.

Recently a reader emailed me this picture of AnnaLynne McCord on the set of 90210, requesting these fringe boots which seem like a more unlikely marriage between moccassins and UGGS than Dixon and Adrianna.

Though I still can't for the life of me understand why the people of Los Angeles insist on wearing winter boots when the whether never dips below 50 degrees, I can totally get behind Naomi Clarke's 90210 style boots.

Hmmmm, the marriage of me and sheepskin boots? Possibly the most unlikely marriage of all.

Jane by Design fashion preview

They say when one door closes another opens.

It's as true of opportunities as it is of fashion closets. So when Sloan's Entourage closet closed for the final time, it was only a matter of time before Olivia Miles found another budding fashionista to dress.

Cue Jane by Design's fashion closet

Billed as Ugly Betty meets Sex in the City, the new teen comedy features high fashion looks on a budget, and Olivia gave me a sneak peek into the closet of Jane and her new Jane By Design fashion frenemies.

And if you're like me, this is one door I can't wait to get a peek behind.

Chicago's Bloggers: Chicago Social Magazine

Here in Chicago, the benchmark for luxury or trendsetting is Chicago Social magazine.

Often imitated, never duplicated, the publication I often think of as Chicago's style cheat sheet contacted me a couple months ago to let me know that Possessionista had been chosen as one of the Chicago blogs they were profiling.

Even more flattering? The company I'm keeping, which includes some of my dear friends: Jena at ChiCityFashion, Suzanne at Garmental and Emma at Tres Awesome, all of whom I've mentioned her plenty of times, and whose blogs you should check out, if you haven't already.

You can check out the entire article here. And then see who else Chicago is reading.

And thanks to each of you, for inspiring me every day to keep shopping.

And writing.

If you have a second and feel like winning a Michael Kors handbag, head over to Facebook and toss your support for Emma at Tres Awesome.

Pretty Little Liars Fashion Black Dress Preview

As 2011 comes to a close, it's important to take a look back on the year in review.

Being the least introspective person in the world, I did what any self-respecting narcissist would do: I delegated it to someone else.

In this case, Mandi Line, my dear friend and the person responsible for Pretty Little Liars fashion who dressed said liars up for this glamorous photo shoot promoting season 2 of Pretty Little Liars.

Though the shoot was a while ago, Mandi and her team were able to remember a few highlights of the shoot.

Proving their ability to look back on 2011 a little more objectively than I.

Bachelor Fashion: meet the bachelorette fashion

So ABC has released the photos of the 25 women competing for Ben Flajnik's heart.

But I'm more concerned about this picture of Ben, which presents him as dopey and sweaty rather than the polished, worldly man who I am so rooting for this go -ound.

If ABC can manipulate this simple photo, can you just imagine the hatchet job they're going to do on the 25 eligible bachelorettes?

And that's even before I've gotten my hands on their wardrobes.

Before the women vie for Ben's affection, I've picked out a few trends we'll be seeing throughout the season and pitted the women against each other. Let's see if their bachelor fashion is enough to win Ben's heart.

Or my approval.

Click here for more posts about Bachelor Fashion.

What were your favorite and least favorite "Meet the Bachelorette" outfits? Leave it in the comments below.

Erika vs. Jennifer:  The ruffle halter.
On Erika: Bebe
On Jennifer Express

Where to begin? The wrinkles. The button front jeans. I think this look is hard to pull off without looking like you have swimmer shoulders, but the orange ruffle halter takes it to a whole new level of awful. I know Carrie Underwood was photographed in this top earlier this year, but even if this shirt could sing, nothing could save it from pure awfulness.  Advantage: Jennifer

Still want Erika's orange halter?

Lindzi vs. Jaclyn:Green ruffled dresses
On Lindzi: Fire
On Jaclyn: Sunner

Neither of these looks gives me rage, but I definitely prefer the versatility of Lindzi's dress, which could go from day to night with a jean jacket or strappy sandal. Kim Kardashian was seen earlier this year in Jaclyn's Sunner Florent dress, which may explain my preference for Lindzi's look. Advantage Lindzi

Holly vs. Shawn: One shoulder tops
On Holly:
On Shawn: Bebe

One shoulder tops are so totally summer of 2011 that adding a super trendy print only dates the outfit further. This kimono print screams slutty mall store to me. And don't even get me started on the stone washed jeans.  Advantage Holly

Looking for a similar one shoulder ruffle top?

Dianna vs. Nikki: Ruffle Tank Tops
On Dianna
On Nikki

You know what I like about these tops? If it turns out the Ben takes either of them on a first date at Damons: The Place for Ribs, they'll both have built in bibs. Truthfully, I like both these tops. Dianna's cobalt blue is a beautiful color, and Nikki's top adds a feminine touch to her black jeans. Draw.

Looking for a ruffle front tank?

Sheryl vs. Jamie: black and white prints and statement necklaces.
On Jamie: Top by Magazine

A good rule of thumb is to balance one super sexy item with more conservative pieces. Individually Jamie's lace trim tank and leather shorts could be cute, but together they scream, "don't take me home to meet mom." Even a conservative pearl necklace wasn't enough to make Grandma the obvious winner in this throwdown. A simple black boyfriend blazer would have amped up Jamie's sophistication level, and left something to the imagination.  Advantage: Grandma

Looking for a pair of leather shorts like Jamie?

Brittney vs. Rachel: Army Green tanks
On Brittney: Bebe
On Rachel:

After the Bachelor, it's hard to go back to real life. Sometimes you're embarrassed about how you've behaved, how you've been let go from the show. You may want to blend in, or simply camouflage yourself. Brittney and Rachel may both be prophetic on that account. But if blending in is your goal, lose the shine.  Advantage Brittney.

Looking for your own olive tank?

Brights: Amber vs. Kacie
On Amber:
On Kacie: Gap

Sometimes less is more. Amber and Kacie both picked simple swing tanks in rich, juicy colors. These happen to be two of my favorite looks, though I wish both would have put a little more thought into accessories. Kacie is my early favorite, and I'm a sucker for orange.  Advantage Kacie

Kacie's exact tank is from the Gap. Get something similar

Monica vs. Samantha: Black and turquoise
On Monica: Nordstrom Top and sweater from H&M
On Samantha: One Shoulder top Yigal Azrouel

So, Monica? What happened, you totally forgot about your photoshoot and had to run over to Warner Brothers from the grocery store? Because I can't actually think of another reason for you to be dressed like a PTA mom.  Advantage: Samantha

Get Samantha's one shoulder Yigal Azrouel top, $196

Casey vs. Anna: V-Necks
On Casey: Lucca Couture Romper
On Anna: BCBG

Fine. That's not really a trend. But I love Casey's romper. Anna's tunic is a beautiful color, but the length is throwing me off. I suspect if Ashley Hebert ever got her hands on it, she's wear it as a dress. Advantage: Casey.

Casey's Lucca Couture romper is sold out, but here's a similar one

Elyse vs. Amber B: Long necklaces

Accessories are such an important part of an outfit. Your accessories, or lack thereof, can make or break your outfit. I've already gotten requests for Elyse's multi layered necklace. Amber's? Notsomuch.  Advantage: Elyse

Courtney vs. Shira: Girly Dresses
Courtney in Cynthia Vincent
Shira in Elie Tahari

These are two of my favorite looks. Both girls look cute and sweet. And I wouldn't use either of these dresses to wipe my hands after a meal of hotwings. Which, I sincerely doubt either of them have eaten. Just saying.  Draw.
Get Courtney's Cynthia Vincent Maxi Dress

Emily vs. Jenna: Pink
On Emily: Bellatrix
On Jenna: Tank by Silence and Noise

Pink is the color of love and romance, and both Jenna and Emily executed flawless girly colorblocking. I love the shoulder detail on Emily's top, and Jenna's draped skirt adds just a little something extra to an otherwise ordinary pencil skirt. Draw

Emily's pink tie shoulder top

Lynsdey vs. Blakely: ???
On Lyndsey: G by Guess Roxanna smocked top
On Blakeley: Bebe dress

Seriously? Am I being punked? I'd really like to find something nice to say about either of these outfits. But then I remember, that's just not who I am. Bless their hearts. Advantage: Nobody
