The Grammy’s: Not-so-Glam(my)

I know, I know. The Grammy’s are all about being edgy. They’re about taking risks. But seriously, WTF was going on last night? You know it’s a bad night for fashion when MILEY CYRUS is one of the best dressed.

I don’t know if it’s the recession, or what, but it’s like the entire music community fired their stylists.
Sure there were some highlights. Sheryl Crow looked impeccable, natch. She, Miley, Zoe Deschanel and Natalie Cole all wore one shoulder gowns.

But what was going on with Carrie Underwood? And Leona Lewis? It’s like they decided to forgo practical materials, and opted for sausage-casing in lieu of chiffon or satin. I would only be half surprised if we find out that both were styled by Oscar Meyer.

And then there was Jennifer Hudson, who I think is remarkably beautiful. I know she’s had a bad year, but c’mon. No one would tell her she still had a paper napkin tucked into her dress?

And I would be remiss if I didn’t include the trainwreck that is MIA.

All together now: Oh. My. God.
Girl, on my due date I sat with my feet up, eating Dairy Queen and watching the OC. Are you seriously telling me that you thought it was a good idea to wear illusion and rap?
Better you than me.
And don’t even get me started on Audrina Patridge. Why was she even there? (And please don’t tell me it’s because she works for a record label. I watch The Hills too.)
I could go on. For example, did Gwyneth Paltrow go shopping with Paris Hilton at Starlets and Harlots (a real store, I swear) before settling on their equally vomitrocious dresses?
And then there’s Paula Abdul.
But this isn’t helpful.
And I want to be helpful.
So, instead I want to talk about the duet between Taylor Swift and Hannah Montana.
Admittedly Taylor sang. Miley screeched. But both looked adorable -and appropriate- in tunics and skinny pants. And so I thought instead of saying something bad about Miley’s veneers, I’d just show you how to get a similar look, without having to hock your gold statue (or fillings.)
