I know that we are not supposed to covet thy neighbor, but when it comes to my best (jeans) friend, Marni, I can’t help it.
Marni is impossibly cool.
She is smart. And pretty. And funny. And, in spite of all the reasons to hate her (like the fact that she already owns the Disco Joeys in gold) she is also in the top 5 for nicest people.
I am forever coveting what Marni has. Her YSL bag. Her Chloe boots. Her 4-day-a-week nanny.
So, the way our friendship works is Marni shows up with her newest, supercool find. And then I try to find something similar for 1/10th of the price.
As I am writing this, I just had a realization: I’m a poor man’s Marni.
Anyway, Marni just turned 35. (At least I’ll always be younger.) And for her birthday she got a Chan Luu wrap bracelet. And I fell. Hard. But then she told me how much it cost. And I passed out.
